Chennai: <\/span>A 33-year-old man from Telangana<\/a> was arrested by west zone cybercrime police in connection with a \u20b912.7 lakh online fraud case. In his police complaint, Jayanthi Babu, 35, of Krishna Industrial Estate, Vanagaram, said he was contacted by a person claiming to help him secure a \u20b94 crore tender for the supply of automatic doors to Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.The caller instructed the businessman to pay a security deposit, following which Jayanthi Babu transferred \u20b912,70,520 through multiple transactions to a specified bank account. After receiving the money, the caller stopped responding.Police registered a case on March 11 and traced the bank account used in the fraud to Mogilikitta Mahesh, 33, of Moinabad, Telangana. A police team from Chennai travelled to Telangana and arrested Mahesh on July 27 with the assistance of Moinabad police. He was brought to Chennai on a transit warrant on Wednesday for further investigation.Police said Mahesh, who operated an online service, conspired with the main accused by allowing his bank account to be used to receive the money. Investigators said he later transferred the funds to the accused and received a commission of \u20b92,75,000. Police seized his mobile phone during the arrest.Mahesh was produced before a Chennai court on Thursday and remanded in judicial custody.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
