<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nNEW DELHI: A 21-year-old protester, who was admitted to Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital in a critical condition after the alleged July 20 protest-related incident has recovered and was discharged, officials said.According to the hospital, she was brought to RML on July 20 in a critical state. She was immediately resuscitated in the Emergency Department before being shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where she was placed on ventilator support.As her condition improved, doctors gradually took her off ventilator support. After spending a week in the ICU, she was shifted to the Nursing Home ward for further treatment and rehabilitation.On the 10th day of her hospital stay, the hospital said the patient was fully conscious, alert, coherent and haemodynamically stable. She is eating a normal oral diet, walking without assistance and carrying out her daily activities independently. In view of her satisfactory recovery and stable condition, she has been discharged with medical advice and follow-up instructions.The ‘Chalo Sansad’ march on July 20, which saw large participation from students, left hundreds of people injured, including protesters and police personnel. Police reportedly used lathi charges and tear gas to disperse the crowd, which had gathered to demand accountability for the NEET paper leak and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.Pradhan resigned from his post on July 25. However, the police action against the protesters has continued to draw criticism from the Opposition during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.Earlier, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi called for an independent Supreme Court-monitored high-powered committee to investigate the alleged police action against student protesters.In a post on X, Gandhi sought an impartial inquiry into the alleged use of force against students during the July 20 protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.“Students deserve justice. An independent SC monitored high powered committee must be constituted to probe brutalities against our students,” Gandhi said.Gandhi also shared a video that he claimed showed the police action during the protest. The footage appears to show police personnel using lathi charges on demonstrators, while another clip shows a man in civilian clothes forcefully pushing a student protester carrying the Indian flag onto the road during the police action.Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha has passed the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026. The Bill aims to strengthen laws against examination-related malpractices by increasing punishment for paper leaks, creating a Special Task Force to investigate such offences and setting up Special Fast Track Courts for time-bound trials.<\/div>\n
