<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nNew Delhi: <\/span>Delhi Police<\/a> Wednesday assured Delhi High Court<\/a> that its staff at Parliament Street police station will provide an acknowledgement of having received a complaint against senior cops over alleged use of pellet guns and lathis against protesters on July 20.The counsel for police said there was a temporary technical glitch in the computer system on July 22 and that the acknowledgement along with a DD number would be generated and given to the petitioner during the course of the day.Justice Prateek Jalan was hearing a plea by Anand Legal Aid Forum Trust, which said it lodged a complaint on July 22 against police commissioner Anurag Kumar, joint commissioner Madhur Verma, additional DCP Sandeep Lamba and other Delhi Police and RAF personnel, disclosing the commission of cognisable offences in allegedly using illegal force against the protesters.However, despite waiting for a long time at the police station, the SHO and the duty officer didn\u2019t acknowledge receipt of the complaint, which is contrary to the law, and also refused to register an FIR, the trust claimed.Clarifying that he was not seeking the registration of an FIR in the plea, the petitioner\u2019s counsel said the SHO was under legal obligation to give him a \u201creceiving\u201d for the complaint he tendered.\u201cThey are duty-bound to give the receiving. Legal action against erring officers is not there. Only this constitutional court can do (that). Every information disclosing cognisable offence has to be mentioned in the station diary,\u201d the petitioner said.Turning down the request and closing the proceedings on the petition, the court retorted, \u201cAre you interested in pursuing the matter or pursuing the officer? You pursue the matter. Your interest is in securing justice for the people, according to you.\u201dThe petitioner alleged that cops and RAF officers were liable for offences, including attempt to murder, use of pellet guns, illegal lathi charge, assault with iron rods, use of electric shock through police batons and barricades, against the protesters. Thus, the \u201cbrutal and unprovoked force on unarmed peaceful protesters\u201d on July 20 was a blatant violation of Police Manual, Section 148 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), Principle 4 of National Code of Conduct for Police and Section 13 of UN Basic Principles on the Use of Force, etc, the plea contended.<\/div>\n
