And on the other hand, there is another concern: if they are moving overseas for a particular reason, it is important to dig the \u201cwhy\u201d of it. What is falling short?<\/p>\n The story of IIT graduates leaving India has often been narrated as one of departure. But the real issue may no longer be who leaves.Instead, the more pressing questions are these: Is India creating enough world-class research opportunities to persuade its finest engineers to stay? Are industries investing sufficiently in deep technology and advanced manufacturing? Can universities compete globally not merely in admissions but in innovation, funding, and academic freedom?Talent has never recognised national borders as rigid barriers. Ideas certainly do not. In today’s interconnected world, the true measure of a country’s intellectual strength is not how tightly it holds on to its graduates, but whether it creates an ecosystem compelling enough for talent to return, collaborate, invest, and innovate.The government’s latest response reframes overseas migration as an individual’s choice.
