<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nNew Delhi: Investigation into the alleged UPI fraud targeting an east Delhi<\/a> resident led police to uncover a money trail spanning multiple bank accounts and state borders.Following the digital and financial trail, investigators identified the layer-1 beneficiary, Kailash Saini, who had allegedly received the defrauded money before routing it through multiple bank accounts to conceal the proceeds.The case came to light after a woman lodged a complaint alleging that she had been cheated through a fraudulent UPI transaction. During investigation, police analysed the money trail on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, banking transactions and digital evidence, which led them to the first beneficiary account.\u201cA team tracked and travelled to Saini\u2019s native village in Rajasthan<\/a>, after tracing his location. He had fled and switched off his mobile phone to evade arrest,\u201d said DCP (East) Rajeev Kumar<\/a>. He added that cops then relied on local intelligence, field enquiries and technical surveillance before zeroing in on his location in Jaipur, where he was apprehended.<\/p>\n The 28-year-old accused was arrested after police found that around Rs 1.2 lakh, allegedly siphoned from the complainant, had been credited to his bank account before being transferred through multiple accounts to obscure the money trail.Police said they seized a mobile phone allegedly used in the offence and two bank passbooks linked to the financial transactions from his possession.
