<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nHyderabad:<\/span> Around 27.7 lakh electors in Telangana<\/a> have been identified as dead, untraceable, absent, permanently shifted or already enrolled elsewhere during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) so far, and are likely to be excluded from the draft electoral rolls. Another 60 lakh enumeration forms are yet to be digitised, and their status will become clear as the exercise progresses over the next week. The numbers of electors that are to be deleted are likely to increase significantly when total enumeration forms\u2019 digitisation<\/a> ends on August 3.Data available with the Telangana chief electoral officer\u2019s office showed that the electors identified under these categories accounted for about 8.2% of the state\u2019s electorate as of July 24. <\/p>\n The enumeration and digitisation exercise will continue until August 3, while the draft rolls are scheduled to be published on August 10.Telangana CEO C Sudarshan Reddy told TOI<\/span>: \u201cOf the 27 lakh electors identified as uncollectible, around 7.28 lakh are dead, 1.38 lakh are untraceable or absent, 14.85 lakh have permanently shifted and four lakh are already enrolled elsewhere.\u201dUrban districts lag in digitisation<\/span>\u201cAnother 60 lakh enumeration forms are yet to be digitised. Several electors want their votes to remain in villages or rural areas rather than in the city. That is why urban areas such as Hyderabad are lagging in digitisation,\u201d the CEO said.Of the 3.38 crore enumeration forms distributed across Telangana, around 2.49 crore, or 73.7%, had been digitised by July 25. CEO office sources said some electors were refusing to return their enumeration forms, particularly in urban areas.Hyderabad recorded only 50.7% digitisation, followed by Medchal-Malkajgiri at 55% and Rangareddy at 59%, making the three Hyderabad metropolitan districts the lowest performers. Jangaon topped the state with 89% digitisation.Similar entries under verification<\/span>Election Commission of India<\/a> authorities also identified around 2.36 lakh demographically similar entries, indicating possible duplicate or multiple enrolments. Another 2.1 lakh discrepancies involving absent, shifted and dead electors were detected.
