Jaisalmer:<\/span> Two men allegedly attempting to steal electricity cables were electrocuted after they came into contact with a live high-tension power line near Kothla village in Rajasthan<\/a>\u2019s Balotra district Friday, police said.The deceased were identified as Khetaram (23), and Girdhariram (23), both residents of Kothla village. They died on the spot after suffering severe electric shock.Dhorimanna station house officer (SHO) Dalpat Singh said a new electricity line was being laid in the village under the Dhorimanna subdivision. Although the newly laid cables were not live, one end of the wire accidentally came into contact with an overhead high-tension transmission line, allowing current to pass through the cable and fatally electrocuting both men, police said.<\/p>\n

Police shifted the bodies to Dhorimanna Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. A team from the state power distribution company (DISCOM) was also called to inspect the site and examine the electrical aspects of the incident. Police said further legal action will be taken after the DISCOM submits its report.<\/p>\n
