NEW DELHI: Soon after announcing his resignation as Union education minister on Saturday, Dharmendra Pradhan updated his X profile, removing the designation \u201cUnion Minister\u201d from his bio.The reaction came hours after Pradhan stepped down from the Narendra Modi government amid the nationwide Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led agitation over the alleged NEET paper leak.Pradhan\u2019s X profile now identifies him only as \u201cMP (LS), Sambalpur. Earlier in the day, Pradhan announced his resignation through a letter addressed to the country\u2019s youth, saying he had decided to step down to ensure that students\u2019 futures were not affected by the ongoing controversy and that the situation was not exploited by \u201canti-national elements\u201d.<\/p>\n

He also said he had taken responsibility for the issue from the very beginning and had never turned away from it.His resignation came after weeks of nationwide protests spearheaded by the CJP, which had made the education minister\u2019s exit its principal demand over the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination.Following Pradhan\u2019s resignation, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke urged supporters not to celebrate any individual victory, saying, \u201cI am not a hero,\u201d and credited students and citizens across the country for sustaining the movement.Later, after a third round of talks with the Centre, the CJP announced that it was withdrawing its agitation \u201cin good faith\u201d and appealed to protesters to return home peacefully.The joint press conference also concluded, saying the government\u2019s acceptance of the party\u2019s key demand had opened the way for further reforms.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
