<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nPrayagraj<\/span>: Girls outperformed boys in the CBSE Class X results for 2026 in the Prayagraj region, continuing a consistent academic trend even as the region reported a moderate overall performance and a relatively high number of compartment cases. The results, declared on Wednesday, showed girls registering a pass percentage of 91.21%, ahead of boys who recorded 88.2%.The overall pass percentage of the Prayagraj region stood at 89.45%, placing it 17th among 22 regions across the country and below the national average of 93.70%. Out of 3,17,340 registered candidates from 1,226 schools and 320 examination centres, a total of 3,14,553 students appeared, of whom 2,81,298 were declared successful in the region.Institution-wise data indicates sharp variations in performance. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas recorded the highest pass percentage at 99.81%, with 1,592 students passing out of 1,599 who appeared. Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) followed closely with a pass percentage of 98.98%, reflecting strong academic outcomes in centrally managed institutions. Independent schools, which had the largest share of candidates with 1,48,518 registrations and 1,47,326 students appearing, recorded a pass percentage of 89.31%, with 1,31,573 students passing.In contrast, govt schools continued to lag significantly, registering a pass percentage of 61.52% out of 3,116 registered candidates, highlighting gaps in academic support and infrastructure. The data clearly points to a wide institutional divide in learning outcomes across the region.Gender-wise, the performance gap remained evident, with girls outperforming boys by over three percentage points. Of the total candidates, 63,993 girls appeared in the examination and showed better success rates compared to 91,734 boys, in line with broader national trends.A total of 15,805 students were placed in the compartment category, accounting for 10.15% of those who appeared, which is significantly higher than the national average of 5.95%. This indicates that a considerable number of students will need to reappear in one or more subjects, pointing to subject-level learning gaps.The scale of the examination also reflects its significance in the region, with over three lakh candidates appearing across hundreds of centres. Compared to neighbouring regions, Prayagraj\u2019s performance remained close to Patna at 89.33% and slightly below Lucknow at 91.63%, while aligning with the Uttar Pradesh average of 89.35%.Additionally, data showed encouraging outcomes for Children With Special Needs (CWSN), with select groups achieving 100% pass rates. The examination, conducted from Feb 17 to March 11, saw increased participation this year, mirroring the national trend of rising registrations.Worth mentioning that Prayagraj region\u2019s national ranking, slipping from 15th position in 2025 to 17th position this year among all 22 regions of the country, is also reflected in the overall pass percentage, which decreased from 91.01% in 2025 to 89.45% this year.Pointedly, the Trivandrum Regional Office maintained its top position for the third consecutive year with an outstanding pass percentage of 99.79%, showing consistent excellence. Vijayawada retained its second place, while Chennai, Bengaluru and Delhi West stood in third, fourth and fifth positions, respectively. The overall pass percentage in 2026 stood at 93.70%, while it was 93.66% in 2025, showing a rise of 0.04%.<\/div>\n
