However, as the match wore on, Argentina gradually established control, pinning England deeper inside their own half before finally breaking through in the closing minutes.<\/p>\n Looking back at the defeat, Kane felt England’s mentality changed after taking the lead, even if that had not been the coaching staff’s intention.“We’re gutted for the boys, gutted for everyone, the team, the staff, the fans,” he told reporters.“We played a good game for the large majority of it.
