<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nNagpur: Days after FIRs were registered against nine Booth Level Officers (BLOs) involved in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Kamptee and two in Hingna, similar action has been initiated against nine more BLOs from Nagpur South Assembly constituency, taking the total number of FIRs to 20.Senior district election officials told TOI the administration has adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards negligence as the month-long voter verification exercise enters its final fortnight. Besides criminal action, show-cause notices have been issued to BLOs across constituencies for failing to prioritise election work despite repeated instructions.While officials confirmed issuing more than 25 show-cause notices, district administration sources said the actual number is considerably higher and may have crossed 100 as authorities continue reviewing the performance of field staff.Officials clarified that no departmental inquiries have been initiated so far, though proceedings may be considered in cases of repeated negligence or serious dereliction of duty.\u201cThe Election Commission<\/a> has laid down strict timelines for the SIR, and every BLO has clearly defined responsibilities. Wherever serious lapses are detected, action is being taken in accordance with the law,\u201d a senior official said.The administration has also stepped up field operations. Nearly 60% of Enumeration Forms have been distributed, while digitisation has crossed 16%, with the focus now on accelerating digital processing alongside door-to-door verification.Officials said the SIR will continue till July 29, followed by publication of the draft electoral roll on Aug 5. They maintained that while accountability of field staff remains a priority, the primary objective is to ensure accurate and comprehensive voter verification.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
