<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nNew Delhi: Rescue teams continued their search Monday as families waited anxiously on the bank more than 24 hours after four class 10 students were swept away while bathing in the Yamuna near Hiranki Road in outer north Delhi.The four boys \u2014 Rahul<\/a>, Anshu<\/a>, Saurabh and Amandeep \u2014 were close friends who had gone together for what relatives said was their first-ever swim in Yamuna.Police said five boys aged 14-15 had gone to bathe in the river Sunday evening. The lone survivor told the rest had formed a human chain and walked towards a rocky stretch when they were swept away by a strong current before he could enter the water. He raised an alarm, but by the time help reached, the boys had disappeared.Anshu\u2019s father, Sham Bihari Shah, a plumber, said his son had recently joined NCC. \u201cThe boys were passionate about NCC. Amandeep was even the class captain. This was the first time they had gone to the Yamuna. We only wish someone had stopped them from entering the river,\u201d he said.Saurabh\u2019s 18-year-old sister, Khushi, said the teenager wanted to study abroad and support the family. \u201cMy mother works as a domestic help, and my father is a cook. All our hopes were pinned on him. Now all we can do is wait,\u201d she said.Just hours earlier, two young cousins, aged seven and eight, had drowned in an eight-foot-deep rainwater-filled pit nearby when they went to fetch a ball. Their families told TOI that the children would have been alive had the pit been barricaded or marked with warning signs. \u201cAfter the rains, the pit and the field looked like one continuous surface,\u201d said a victim\u2019s relative.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
