<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nNew Delhi: Delhi govt has approved Rs 17.6 crore for implementing a standard framework for paving and greening of urban roads, an initiative aimed at improving road design, maintenance and environmental sustainability across the capital.The Administrative Approval and Expenditure Sanction (AA&ES) cleared the release of the full project cost under a tripartite memorandum of agreement signed on June 8, between Delhi govt, CSIR-CRRI and School of Planning and Architecture.The agreement, executed through public works department, lays the foundation for a scientific framework to improve the planning, construction and maintenance of city\u2019s road network.A key component of the initiative is the development of a road asset management system, which will create a digital inventory of roads and scientifically assess pavement conditions, traffic loads, structural strength, maintenance requirements and expected service life. The system is expected to help authorities prioritise repair and maintenance works based on road condition and urgency.The framework also aims to address the city\u2019s recurring waterlogging problem by redesigning road gradients and improving drainage systems to ensure better stormwater flow during monsoon.Under the agreement, CSIR-CRRI will provide technical expertise in road engineering, pavement technology, road safety and asset management, while SPA will oversee urban design, streetscape planning, public space development, landscaping and integration of green infrastructure.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
