<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nNew Delhi: Police have busted a fake end-of-life vehicle (ELV) removal racket in which a former employee of an authorised vehicle scrapping agency allegedly posed as an MCD official and used forged removal orders to steal old two-wheelers from across the city.Adnan Saifi (24), a resident of Tihar village, and Akram (43), a scrap dealer from Aligarh who operated from Mayapuri, have been arrested.The racket came to light after a man\u2019s complaint that his 15-year-old scooty had gone missing from Paharganj on June 20. A removal order purportedly issued by MCD\u2019s Karol Bagh Zone had been pasted at the spot. However, verification by the civic body confirmed that no such removal had taken place and the document was forged. An FIR was registered.CCTV footage showed two men removing the vehicle. Police identified one of them as Adnan, a former daily-wage employee of M\/S Go Green ELV Handlers, an authorised agency responsible for lifting end-of-life vehicles.DCP (Central) Rohit Rajbir Singh said, \u201cAdnan was arrested from Rohini on July 3 with the stolen scooty in his possession. During interrogation, he admitted that after leaving the agency, he exploited his knowledge of the ELV removal process by posing as an MCD official and using fabricated removal orders to steal old two-wheelers. He also claimed involvement in the theft of 14 other ELVs across Delhi, which is being verified.\u201dInvestigation led police to Akram, who was arrested from Mayapuri on July 6. Raids conducted in Mayapuri and Aligarh resulted in the recovery of dismantled parts of stolen vehicles, five forged removal orders and a blank booklet of fabricated removal orders.Police said Akram allegedly purchased the stolen vehicles, dismantled them quickly and retained the forged documents to make the transactions appear legitimate.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
