He directed officials to ensure that all worksare completed within the stipulated timeframe and to the highest qualitystandards, keeping the ongoing monsoon season<\/a> in view, so that the safetyof lives and property is fully secured.Goyal informed that the reconstruction of the nearly 3,300-foot stretch ofthe embankment, which had been washed away at Sasrali Colony village, isprogressing steadily. The project is being executed at an estimated cost ofaround Rs.11.75 crore. Nearly 2,00,000 cubic metres of earth is being usedfor rebuilding the embankment, of which around 1,50,000 cubic metres hasalready been laid. The remaining work will be completed shortly, he added.Highlighting the project’s engineering significance, the Cabinet Ministersaid that PPMF (Polypropylene Multifilament) Geotubes are being installedalong the toe of the river-facing side of the embankment to provideenhanced erosion protection. Around 450 geotubes are planned forinstallation, out of which nearly 325 have already been placed, with theremaining work to be completed within days. He said this is the firstproject of its kind in Punjab employing PPMF Geotube technology and marks asignificant milestone in the adoption of advanced geosynthetic engineeringsolutions for riverbank protection and flood management.The Water Resources Minister took a detailed review of the progress of theproject and inspected the ongoing works at the site. He said thereinforcement of the Dhussi embankment will provide substantial protectionto villages and adjoining areas along the Satluj River and help preventdamage caused by the pressure of rising river waters during the monsoon.The Cabinet Minister was apprised by the SDM Ludhiana East Jasleen KaurBhullar that the district administration is maintaining close coordinationwith the Water Resources Department and continuously monitoring theprogress of the project. She informed that vulnerable locations are beingclosely watched and all necessary resources have been kept ready to tackleany unforeseen situation.<\/p>\n
