<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nJAISALMER: Following its intensified campaign against Left-Wing Extremism, the Central Government is now shifting its focus towards tackling illegal infiltration and addressing demographic changes in sensitive regions.As part of this strategy, Union home minister Amit Shah will chair a high-level meeting in New Delhi on Thursday, July 9, to review issues related to illegal infiltration, demographic changes, and border security.The meeting will be attended in hybrid mode by the directors general of police (DGPs) of all states and Union Territories, senior officials of the ministry of home affairs, superintendents of police (SPs) from border districts of all border states, and chiefs of India’s leading security and intelligence agencies.Accordingly, the SPs of Rajasthan’s five border districts\u2014Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar, and Phalodi\u2014have left for New Delhi to participate in the discussions.Simultaneously, a separate review meeting of the district collectors of these five border districts will be held in Jaipur on Thursday.The meeting will review the action taken against illegal infiltration, demographic changes, illegal encroachments, unauthorized constructions, and land occupations in border areas.The review follows directions issued by Amit Shah during a meeting held in Bikaner in April, where district collectors and SPs of Rajasthan’s border districts were instructed to establish a “360-degree Grid Security System.”They were also directed to conduct surveys of all illegal encroachments and unauthorized constructions within a 50-kilometre belt along the International Border and remove such structures.The progress of these drives will also be reviewed during Thursday’s meetings.According to official sources, the meeting at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in New Delhi is expected to continue for six to seven hours.Discussions will focus not only on identifying and deporting illegal infiltrators but also on dismantling the networks that allegedly provide them with shelter, forged documents, employment, and logistical support across the country.The Centre has also prepared a scientific questionnaire to assess demographic changes across states and Union Territories. A high-level committee headed by retired Justice Prakash Shrivastava will conduct field visits to collect ground-level information from border regions, metropolitan cities, and industrial centres before preparing its report.Senior officials from the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW), National Investigation Agency (NIA), Border Security Force (BSF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Enforcement Directorate (ED), and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will also participate.The large-scale participation of security, intelligence, and law enforcement agencies reflects the Centre’s plan to formulate a coordinated national strategy to curb illegal infiltration, address demographic concerns in vulnerable regions, strengthen border security, and take action against the networks facilitating such activities.<\/div>\n
