<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nNEW DELHI: Heavy rain since Wednesday night has brought large parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) to a standstill, triggering widespread waterlogging, traffic congestion and tree falls across several areas on Thursday morning.The India Meteorological Department<\/a> (IMD) issued a ‘red’ alert for Delhi, warning of more moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning through the day.The worst-hit locations included Mehrauli-Badarpur (MB) Road, NH-24 near Ghazipur and Akshardham, Burari, Noida and Ghaziabad, where flooded roads disrupted traffic and left commuters stranded.MB Road was completely blocked after heavy waterlogging submerged vehicles and overwhelmed the drainage system. Burari also witnessed flooded roads, while long traffic queues were reported on NH-24 near Akshardham. The Delhi Traffic Police said waterlogging near Ghazipur had severely affected traffic movement, with officials and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) working to clear the accumulated water.In South Delhi’s East of Kailash, two large trees collapsed on Raja Dhir Singh Marg late on Wednesday night, the second such incident on the stretch in as many days. One tree fell near the ISKCON Temple and another near the National Heart Institute, around 600 metres apart.One parked car was damaged after being trapped under a fallen tree, but no injuries were reported. On Tuesday, two luxury cars were crushed after another tree collapsed on the same road. Traffic police diverted vehicles and cleared the affected stretch.Residents blamed poor drainage and inadequate civic maintenance for the recurring flooding.“No agency has done its work. We are scared of potholes hidden under the water and fear falling while commuting,” scooter rider Aman told ANI.In Noida, roads in Sector 75 were submerged, making commuting difficult, while parts of Ghaziabad, including Indirapuram and Abhay Khand, witnessed knee-deep water, forcing people to wade through flooded streets.Despite the rain bringing relief from the heat, it disrupted normal life across Delhi-NCR. Civic authorities and traffic police remained deployed in affected areas, but continuous rainfall continued to hamper relief operations.<\/div>\n
