<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nNew Delhi: <\/span>Police have arrested a Dwarka house help for allegedly making false allegations of rape against a man who had booked her through an app for house cleaning on June 30.At 1.22 pm on June 30, police got a PCR call. The woman who dialled 112 told the cops that she was assigned a domestic help\u2019s job through an app at 12.30 pm at an apartment in Dwarka. She reached the address around 12.10 pm and met a 56-year-old man, who worked in the private sector in Gurgaon. When she finished her work and was leaving the apartment, the man came from behind, grabbed her and raped her, the house help alleged.The woman said she somehow managed to flee the house and told her seniors what had happened. The app company advised her to dial the toll-free 24×7 PCR number and report the crime.The police began an investigation and recorded the statements of various people. The investigators also examined the available electronic evidence, such as CCTV footage and mobile call records.A twist in the tale, however, came on July 1 when the woman allegedly called up the 56-year-old man\u2019s son and demanded Rs 5 lakh to withdraw the rape complaint. Police found out about this during the inquiry.The house help allegedly told the man\u2019s son that if she was not paid, she would would file a rape case that would bring serious reputational damage to his family.Police said that it later emerged that she had set up a meeting with the man\u2019s son. She agreed to accept Rs 2 lakh initially. The son secretly recorded the woman’s demand for cash, her threats and her acceptance of Rs 2 lakh.The man\u2019s son told the help that she must withdraw her PCR complaint as she was being paid.The police, whom the son had kept in the loop regarding the meeting, said the CCTV footage and mobile conversations contradicted the help\u2019s claims, leading to an FIR and her arrest.On July 1 after the woman withdrew the complaint, she was arrested.The investigators said the material collected during the inquiry prima facie established that the woman made the PCR call just to extort money from the family.Based on the man\u2019s statement and the evidence, police registered a case of extortion<\/a> under Section 308 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).DCP (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh urged people to verify the credentials before hiring domestic workers.The Rs 2 lakh that was given to the woman was also recovered from her possession.Police are now checking her record to ascertain whether she extorted other people too in similar ways.<\/div>\n
