(Representational image)<\/span><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Uttar Pradesh government has proposed a separate Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for in-service teachers, with Chief Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/yogi-adityanath\" styleobj=\"[object Object]\" class=\"\" commonstate=\"[object Object]\" frmappuse=\"1\">Yogi Adityanath<\/a> directing the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) to create more opportunities for serving educators to meet the mandatory eligibility requirement.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"4\"\/>The direction was issued during a high-level review meeting on Tuesday to assess preparations for the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026. The examination will be held on July 2, 3 and 4. Admit cards have already been released.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"7\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2 style=\"line-height:1.38;margin-top:18pt;margin-bottom:6pt;\">Separate TET for serving teachers<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"9\"\/>During the meeting, the Chief Minister said serving teachers should not lose opportunities because of limited chances to take the Teacher Eligibility Test.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"11\"\/>He directed the Commission to conduct a separate TET for in-service teachers so they receive adequate opportunities to establish their eligibility. <!-- -->According to the Chief Minister, teachers should not face difficulties simply because they have fewer chances to appear for the examination.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"16\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2 style=\"line-height:1.38;margin-top:18pt;margin-bottom:6pt;\">Nearly 20 lakh candidates to take UPTET<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"18\"\/>The state government expects 19,94,661 candidates to appear for UPTET 2026. Out of the total, 17,67,180 candidates are from Uttar Pradesh, while 2,27,481 candidates are from other states.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"20\"\/>The highest number of candidates has been registered in Varanasi, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Kanpur Nagar, Meerut, Mau, Moradabad, Agra and Jaunpur.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"23\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2 style=\"line-height:1.38;margin-top:18pt;margin-bottom:6pt;\">CM stresses transparency and candidate convenience<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"25\"\/>Reviewing the arrangements, Adityanath instructed officials to ensure that the examination is conducted in a fair, transparent and credible manner.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"27\"\/>He said no candidate should face inconvenience due to transport, accommodation, security, or the lack of basic facilities. Officials have been directed to make proper arrangements at railway stations, bus stands, and other major transit points, especially for candidates travelling from other districts and states.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"30\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2 style=\"line-height:1.38;margin-top:18pt;margin-bottom:6pt;\">Centres asked to provide basic facilities<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"32\"\/>The Chief Minister directed all examination centres to ensure the availability of drinking water, clean toilets, shaded waiting areas, uninterrupted power supply, fire safety measures and emergency medical services.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"34\"\/>District administrations have also been asked to keep health and disaster management teams on alert in view of the prevailing weather conditions.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"36\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2 style=\"line-height:1.38;margin-top:18pt;margin-bottom:6pt;\">District magistrates told to conduct rehearsal<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"38\"\/>Adityanath instructed district magistrates to carry out a full rehearsal of examination arrangements a day before the test.
