The Cabinet had also rejected a proposal to extend incentives to strong hybrid vehicles, retaining the policy’s exclusive focus on “pure EVs”.The policy introduces a three-year lock-in period for beneficiaries availing govt subsidies, preventing them from registering their subsidised vehicles outside Delhi during this period. It also offers scrapping incentives, including Rs 1 lakh for eligible electric cars purchased after scrapping Delhi-registered BS-IV and older vehicles, subject to specified conditions and limited to the first one lakh applicants. Chief minister Rekha Gupta said the govt would invest around Rs 15,000 crore over the next four years to promote electric mobility. More than 30,000 EV charging points will be installed across the capital, while a dedicated online portal will facilitate Direct Benefit Transfer of incentives and support the city’s transition to cleaner transport.

Source link

New Delhi: Delhi govt Wednesday officially notified Delhi Electric Vehicles (EV) Policy 2026, bringing into force a roadmap to accelerate electric mobility in the national capital with effect from July 1, 2026.
