However, normal to above-normal rainfall is expected in parts of northwest and northeast India, east-central India and the eastern peninsular region.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"18\"\/>July is also expected to be warmer than usual, with above-normal temperatures likely at several places across the country.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"20\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h3>City-wise and regional alerts<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">Mumbai, Konkan and Maharashtra<\/span><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"23\"\/>The IMD has issued an Orange Alert for the Konkan region, including Mumbai, warning of heavy to very heavy persistent rainfall along the coast.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"26\"\/><\/p>\n<div class=\"cdatainfo   id-r-component \" data-pos=\"27\">\n<ul>\n<li>Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at many places over Konkan and Goa from July 2 to July 4. <\/li>\n<li>Extremely heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places.<\/li>\n<li>Central Maharashtra ghats are expected to receive intense rainfall, raising the risk of minor landslides<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/city\/mumbai\/mumbai-rains-live-updates-monsoon-weather-imd-alert-india-meteorological-department-warns-heavy-rain-in-maharastra-traffic\/liveblog\/132104183.cms\" styleobj=\"[object Object]\" class=\"\" commonstate=\"[object Object]\" frmappuse=\"1\">Mumbai<\/a>, intense monsoon showers have already caused waterlogging in areas such as Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and Wadala, traffic disruptions, tree falls and accidents. The IMD has warned that relief from heavy rain is unlikely in the immediate term.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"31\"\/>Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from weak structures and heavily wooded areas.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"33\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">Uttarakhand<\/span><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"35\"\/>The IMD has issued a heavy rainfall alert for Rudraprayag district till July 4, with the district administration urging residents to remain vigilant.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"38\"\/><\/p>\n<div class=\"cdatainfo   id-r-component \" data-pos=\"39\">\n<ul>\n<li>5\u201315 mm per hour rainfall is likely, accompanied by light thunderstorms<\/li>\n<li>Surface winds are expected to remain below 40 kmph<\/li>\n<li>Orange alerts are in place for Nainital, Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri Garhwal and Udham Singh Nagar, where light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are forecast<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>Residents have been advised to avoid rivers, streams and landslide-prone zones and follow official advisories.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"41\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">Delhi-NCR<\/span><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"43\"\/>The monsoon is expected to cover Delhi and adjoining regions shortly. The IMD has forecast a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain and thunderstorms on Thursday.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"45\"\/><\/p>\n<div class=\"cdatainfo   id-r-component \" data-pos=\"46\">\n<ul>\n<li>Yellow alert issued for gusty surface winds during afternoon and evening hours<\/li>\n<li>Isolated heavy rainfall is possible over Haryana\u2013Chandigarh\u2013Delhi region.<\/li>\n<li>Thunderstorms with gusts up to 40\u201350 kmph are likely.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 28.6\u00b0C, close to the seasonal average, while air quality remained in the \u2018moderate\u2019 category with an AQI of 177.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"49\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h3>Other major regions<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"cdatainfo   id-r-component \" data-pos=\"51\">\n<ul>\n<li><b>Central India:<\/b> Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha, with isolated heavy to very heavy rain at some places<\/li>\n<li><b>East India<\/b>: Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar may see heavy rain with thunderstorms<\/li>\n<li><b>Northwest India: <\/b>Himachal Pradesh and Jammu &amp; Kashmir are likely to receive widespread rainfall, with isolated very heavy showers<\/li>\n<li><b>South Peninsula:<\/b> Kerala, coastal Karnataka and Lakshadweep may see widespread rainfall with strong surface winds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><h3><b>Overall IMD Signal<\/b><\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<p>July is expected to begin with active monsoon conditions over large parts of central, western, eastern and northwest India. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds remain a key risk in several metros. Farmers in central India may benefit from improved rainfall distribution in the next 7\u201310 days.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"54\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h3>June rainfall recap<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<p>India received 99.5 mm rainfall in June against a normal of 165.3 mm, registering a 39.8% deficit, the fifth-lowest June rainfall since 1901.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"57\"\/>Of the country\u2019s 36 meteorological subdivisions, 24 recorded deficient rainfall, while three witnessed large deficiencies.
