The spell is expected to range from light showers in Delhi to moderate and heavy rainfall in hill states, eastern India and the Northeast. The weather office has also issued yellow alerts in multiple states, warning of thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds over the coming days as the monsoon steadily moves northwards.Delhi weather and yellow alert<\/span>Delhi may get light rain and thunderstorms over the next few days, even as the monsoon is not expected to arrive before early July. A yellow alert has been issued for Tuesday and Wednesday for thunderstorms and gusty winds.<\/p>\n IMD monsoon update<\/span>The IMD said conditions are favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon into parts of the North Arabian Sea and several northern states, including Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, over the next two to three days.It added that the system is likely to continue its movement into Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and southeast Rajasthan in the subsequent days, marking a steady northward progression over the next five to six days.Rain, thunderstorms and wind warning<\/span><\/p>\n State-wise forecast<\/span>Himachal Pradesh (Yellow alert)<\/span>Wet spell likely to continue till July 4. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and gusty winds (30\u201340 kmph) in isolated areas between June 30 and July 4. A fresh western disturbance from July 2 may further intensify rainfall.Punjab and Haryana<\/span>Scattered rainfall likely on July 1 and 2. Both states are expected to witness thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds (40\u201350 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph) between July 1 and July 4.Rajasthan<\/span>Moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms likely in parts of the Kota and Udaipur divisions, with rainfall activity expected to increase across southeastern and eastern Rajasthan from July 2.Bengal<\/span>Thunderstorms with gusty winds are likely to continue till July 3 in several districts.Kerala (Multiple yellow alerts)<\/span>Yellow alerts have been issued in phases across several districts including Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod between June 30 and July 2. Authorities have warned of landslides, mudslides and flash floods in vulnerable areas.Northeast India<\/span>Heavy rainfall is likely to continue in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and adjoining northeastern regions, with risk of waterlogging and local flooding in several areas.
