NEW DELHI: PM Narendra Modi<\/a> Sunday became the first Indian PM to address Seychelles\u2019 National Assembly and was honoured with the country\u2019s first-ever \u201cGuardian of the Blue Horizon\u201d distinction \u2014 twin firsts on a State visit that reasserted India\u2019s position as western Indian Ocean\u2019s security and development anchor amid China\u2019s expanding presence along key sea lanes, reports Manash Gohain. Hailing Modi as an embodiment of \u201cthe spirit of the Guardian of our Blue Horizon\u201d, President Patrick Herminie said the honour recognised his leadership on sustainability, the Blue Economy and ocean governance. \u201cI humbly accept this honour and dedicate it to all those countries that are fighting the challenge of climate change and consider environmental protection their responsibility towards future generations,\u201d Modi said, calling it a challenge \u201cwe have to overcome together\u201d.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
