<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nBengaluru: <\/span>Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) created a Guinness World Record by planting nearly 15 lakh native saplings across multiple locations in 12 hours, in one of the world\u2019s largest coordinated urban plantation drives. The Guinness World Records adjudicator presented the award to Karnataka govt Sunday.At Dr Shivaram Karanth Layout (DSKL), over 7.1 lakh saplings were planted against a target of just over 7 lakh, achieving 101% of the goal. At Banashankari 6th Stage Layout (BSKL), 1,05,800 saplings were planted against a target of 1,05,000.Organised on Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Jayanti, the drive drew participation from citizens, govt departments, educational institutions, resident welfare associations, corporates, NGOs, and thousands of volunteers. It covered major BDA-developed areas and was part of the Bengaluru Urban Ecological Restoration Mission 2026-30, aimed at expanding green cover, enhancing biodiversity, and building climate-resilient neighbourhoods.\u201cThis Guinness World Record belongs to every citizen of Bengaluru who believes environmental stewardship begins with collective action. Planting 15 lakh native saplings in a single day is not merely a record \u2014 it is a commitment to future generations,\u201d BDA chairman NA Haris said.BDA commissioner Major P Manivannan said the focus now shifts to ensuring the survival, maintenance, and healthy growth of the saplings. The campaign was supported by extensive logistics, including transportation, plantation tools, hydration points, medical assistance, and technical guidance.<\/div>\n
