The tribunal had asked the govt to submit a status report on the drain after Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) claimed that it was discharging untreated effluents into the river. In its report dated May 20, 2026, which was shared on June 25, Haryana said the drain was originally designed as a stormwater channel and not for carrying sewage or industrial effluent. However, it is currently receiving wastewater from various urban and rural settlements.A recent survey identified 15 pollution sources discharging into another outlet, diversion drain No. 8. While eight discharge points have already been tapped, about 0.8 MLD of effluent continues to enter this drain from the remaining seven locations and is expected to be tapped by Dec 2027.According to the report, authorities identified 36 discharge points along drain No. 6 in Panipat and Sonipat districts, releasing an estimated 42.2 MLD of untreated wastewater. Haryana has prepared an action plan to divert these flows, with the proposed projects scheduled for completion by June 30, 2028.

Source link

New Delhi: Haryana govt has informed National Green Tribunal (NGT) that more than 42 million litres per day (MLD) of untreated wastewater continues to enter drain No. 6, a major channel that flows into the Yamuna, and that work to tap all identified discharge points along it is expected to be completed by mid-2028.NGT is […]

[150

post-28055","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-delhi
["GET
