Ranchi:<\/span> The Jharkhand Academic Council<\/a> (JAC) on Friday announced extension of the deadline for corrections in academic certificates to Sept 30, offering relief to thousands of applicants struggling to meet the earlier June 30 cut-off.In a fresh notification, the council said the extension applies to certificates issued up to 2024, including marksheets, admit cards, registration, migration and original certificates.Students can seek corrections in their names, parents\u2019 names, date of birth and other key details through their respective schools and colleges, along with required documents and a judicial affidavit.The move comes amid widespread demand from various quarters regarding the earlier deadline in the wake of heavy rush for the work.JAC sources said that at least 300-400 applications were made for corrections after the revised deadline. \u201cIn Dec last year, we notified the correction window till June 30 this year. But we are witnessing a sudden rush since the last few weeks at the JAC office, where scores of students from far-off districts are turning up for corrections. It becomes problematic for them as well as JAC,\u201d said a JAC staffer on the condition of anonymity.He added that they are receiving applications for correction of marksheets as old as over a decade. \u201cNow that almost all entities are making stringent provisions for background checking, students are realising the importance of rectifying their documents,\u201d he added, stating that certificates issued by JAC post-2025 can be rectified within three years.Students and parents, on the other hand, said that a lack of clarity in documentation requirements and the mandatory Rs 2,500 demand draft caused delays as applicants had to make repeated trips between banks and the JAC office.Rajesh Murmu, who is currently appearing for competitive exams, said that his intermediate marksheet and admit card have different dates of birth, which led to problems during a job interview earlier this year.\u201cThree days ago, I tried submitting the application but couldn\u2019t due to heavy rush at the bank counter on the JAC premises. I didn\u2019t know that I could get a draft from any bank. Next week, I will get a bank draft and submit my application,\u201d said Murmu, who passed intermediate in 2023 and hails from Gumla district.Even minor errors in certificates could lead to hurdles in admissions, competitive exams, jobs and official verification processes, prompting many job aspirants to rush for correction, officials said.<\/div>\n
