NEW DELHI: The government has appointed senior IPS officer Mahesh Dixit as the next Director of the Intelligence Bureau<\/a> (IB<\/a>), the country\u2019s domestic intelligence agency, PTI reported on Thursday.The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Dixit, a 1993-batch IPS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, currently serves as Special Director in the agency.He brings extensive intelligence and security experience to the role, including a stint as chief of the State Intelligence Bureau in Jammu and Kashmir.Dixit will succeed incumbent IB Director Tapan Deka, who was appointed in June 2022. Deka subsequently received two one-year extensions, in June 2024 and June 2025.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
