<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nJaipur: The state health department has suspended the use and distribution of specific batches of 28 drugs, consumables, and sutures following complications experienced by eight women after C-section deliveries at the Paota District Hospital in Jodhpur. An initial investigation revealed that multiple medications were administered during post-operative care, with some women receiving treatments for excessive bleeding and severe allergic reactions.Powerful antibiotics such as ceftriaxone and metronidazole, which are used to treat serious bacterial, anaerobic and parasitic infections, were among the drugs used, indicating that serious complications may have arisen post-childbirth. The health department is now assessing whether any of the medical supplies involved were of compromised quality.To ensure safety, the Commissionerate of Food Safety and Drug Control has halted the use of these items, which include injections, urinary catheters, sterile surgical blades, and syringes. Drug control officers from Jodhpur and Pali are currently testing samples under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and the restrictions will remain until results confirm the quality and safety of the products used.A senior health department official said, \u201cThe Commissionerate, Food Safety and Drug Control, has written to Rajasthan Medical Services Corporation Limited for withholding release or use of RMSCL drug stock until receipt of legal test reports, till further orders.\u201dWhile the 28 items are not to be used from RMSCL stock, hospitals statewide are required to procure these items locally as needed to maintain patient care during the investigation. Instructions have been issued to ensure essential medicines remain available without interruption.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
