<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nNew Delhi:<\/span> Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) claims significant progress in removing accumulated legacy waste from the Okhla landfill. For years, it has remained one of the city\u2019s biggest waste management challenges, but the site is now moving closer to a major transformation.Twenty-three acres of land at the landfill site have already been cleared of waste through bio-remediation and bio-mining operations. The civic body said the remaining legacy waste is expected to be disposed of within around a week, while fresh waste reaching the site will be processed and cleared by Dec 2026, a press statement issued by MCD Wednesday reads.Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi reviewed the ongoing work at the landfill site and expressed satisfaction with the progress of the operations. He added Delhi govt is monitoring the progress of bio-mining operations at the sites and that MCD teams and machinery are working to complete the task within the scheduled timeframe.The bio-mining operations are being carried out to process old dumped waste, recover useful material and reclaim land occupied by the landfill.MCD commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar, additional commissioner Dr Satendra Singh Dursawat, engineer-in-chief and senior officials were present during the inspection.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
