{"id":25856,"date":"2026-06-24T07:30:45","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T02:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/banitoday.com\/cabinet-reshuffle-buzz-as-minister-kurian-resigns-india-news\/"},"modified":"2026-06-24T07:30:45","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T02:00:45","slug":"cabinet-reshuffle-buzz-as-minister-kurian-resigns-india-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/banitoday.com\/hi\/cabinet-reshuffle-buzz-as-minister-kurian-resigns-india-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Cabinet reshuffle buzz as minister Kurian resigns | India News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.toiimg.com\/photo\/msid-131950252,imgsize-61584.cms\" \/><\/p>\n<div data-articlebody=\"1\"><video-embed value=\"false\"\/><\/p>\n<div class=\"ihgno clearfix  \">NEW DELHI: George Kurian\u2019s resignation as minister of state for minority affairs and PM Modi calling on the President re-ignited the buzz about the likelihood of a ministerial reshuffle before <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/monsoon-session-of-parliament\" styleobj=\"[object Object]\" class=\"\" commonstate=\"[object Object]\" frmappuse=\"1\">monsoon session of Parliament<\/a>, slated for the second half of July. <span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"4\"\/>Kurian\u2019s resignation, which had been on the cards since the lapse of his Rajya Sabha membership, has formally opened up a vacancy.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"7\"\/>At least one more slot is set to open up as Ravneet Singh Bittu , minister of state for railways, has also ceased to be a member of RS.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"9\"\/>More vacancies can follow if BJP chooses to implement the \u2018one man-one post\u2019 principle \u2014 something that would see chiefs of BJP\u2019s Uttar Pradesh and Delhi units, Pankaj Chaudhary and Harsh Malhotra, resigning as MoS in ministries of finance and urban development.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"13\"\/>A reshuffle has been talked about also because of what is considered to be the need to infuse vigour into certain ministries which seem to be struggling to cope with the pace Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set and political considerations, including the increase in numbers of Shiv Sena (Shinde) after six MPs from the rival Uddhav Thackeray faction crossed over.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"15\"\/>BJP circles have also speculated whether West Bengal&#8217;s representation in the ministry will increase after the party&#8217;s surprise victory in the state in May.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"18\"\/>While Kurian\u2019s resignation was expected, his appointment had caused surprise. Having looked after the office of BJP in Kerala, he was shocked when Modi plucked him to serve as a minister.
