Heavy rain is likely in parts of Maharashtra, the Northeast, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, while thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds are expected in several regions. Heavy rain and thunderstorm warningThe IMD said heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over the Konkan region. Parts of central Maharashtra are expected to witness thunderstorms acccompanied by lightning, gusty winds and moderate to heavy rainfall. In Marathwada, thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds and light to moderate rainfall are likely.The weather department has warned that heavy rainfall may lead to localised flooding in low-lying and urban areas, flash floods, disruption of road, rail and air services, damage to standing crops, and rough sea conditions along the coast. <\/p>\n According to IMD officials, rainfall is likely to be fairly widespread to widespread over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Heavy rainfall is also likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, with very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall likely to continue over Northeast India till June 25.<\/p>\n The IMD has issued a weather alert for Delhi-NCR, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds at isolated places until June 25, even as the national Capital continues to grapple with poor air quality. Delhi is likely to witness partly cloudy skies on Wednesday. No significant rainfall is expected before June 28. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 41 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures are likely to stay near normal levels. The warning also extends to several states and Union Territories, including Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.<\/p>\n Conditions are favourable for the southwest monsoon to advance into Mumbai within the next 48 hours. The IMD forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, moderate rainfall and gusty winds of 30\u201340 kmph at isolated places. The southwest monsoon has regained momentum over Maharashtra after nearly a two-week lull and is likely to cover the entire state within the next few days. <\/p>\n South Gujarat may see the arrival of the southwest monsoon later this week as the system continues its northward advance. No major change in maximum temperatures is expected over the next seven days, with Ahmedabad likely to remain hot around 41\u00b0C.<\/p>\n Scattered rainfall activity is likely to continue across Madhya Pradesh. Central districts, including Bhopal, may receive intermittent showers before activity shifts towards southern and eastern regions. <\/p>\n The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Goa till June 26. Moderate rainfall is likely across the state, with heavy rainfall expected at isolated places. Monsoon update The IMD said the southwest monsoon has advanced into more parts of the central Arabian Sea, Maharashtra and Telangana, while covering the remaining parts of Karnataka and extending into parts of Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar. Conditions remain favourable for further advance of the monsoon into Maharashtra, Telangana, Odisha and adjoining eastern regions over the next 48 hours. <\/p>\n The IMD’s latest forecast indicates that monsoon activity will continue to strengthen across several parts of the country in the coming days, with heavy rainfall likely over Northeast India and western India, as weather systems align for further progress across central and eastern regions. <\/div>\nNortheast and eastern India under heavy rain alert
