<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nNew Delhi: Delhi Police<\/a> has rescued another infant from Rohini<\/a> in connection with the child trafficking racket busted last week, taking the total number of rescued infants to six.Police sources said a 37-year-old woman, Garima Jain<\/a>, was arrested along with her 67-year-old father-in-law, Satish Jain. Her husband, who is also suspected to be involved, is absconding. The family runs a steel pipe factory in the city.According to investigators, the infant, now 20 days old, was allegedly bought for Rs 8 lakh by the family from the trafficking gang that has been under the scanner of Delhi Police for the past few weeks.During questioning, police uncovered links between the couple and the prime accused in the case, Dr Viveki and his associate Pratibha, who are suspected to be key facilitators in arranging illegal adoptions and trafficking of newborns.Sources said the probe revealed that the infant was handed over to Garima by Dr Viveki and Pratibha. To facilitate the deal and create a fake paper trail, Garima was allegedly admitted to Dr Viveki\u2019s hospital on June 4 under fabricated circumstances and discharged the next day with records claiming a normal delivery.\u201cThe first arrests in the case were also made on June 5. We suspect there was a plan to keep the woman admitted for a few more days, but after the racket came under scrutiny, the gang might have discharged her immediately,\u201d a source said. Police said the amount was allegedly delivered to the gang by Satish.Two registers containing records of admissions and births were found while searching the hospital. Investigators believe these documents could provide crucial evidence about the scale of the racket and may help identify more such infants. \u201cAfter preparing fake documents, they used to upload them on the civic authorities\u2019 portal for generating birth certificates,\u201d sources said.Earlier, police had arrested 13 people and rescued five infants. Among them, one four-month-old boy was rescued from Panipat, while two 27-day-old infants, a boy and a girl, were found in Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh. Four of the rescued infants are tribal, while one is from Delhi.Investigators said male infants were bought for Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh and sold for Rs 6-8 lakh, with some deals fetching as much as Rs 9 lakh.<\/div>\n
