<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nCentral government employees may not have to wait until the end of 2027 for revised salaries and pensions if the 8th Pay Commission maintains its current pace of work, with several employee organisations expecting the panel to submit its report months ahead of its official deadline.The optimism comes as the commission begins a fresh round of consultations with employee and pensioner bodies, prompting some representatives to project that recommendations could be submitted before the Union Budget 2027 and implemented from April next year.Manjeet Singh Patel, national president of the All India NPS Employees Federation (AINPSEF), said the commission has moved into the report-preparation phase after closing the window for stakeholder suggestions.“The 8th CPC submission link for suggestions has been closed after the final date of June 15. Now all focus is on meetings and preparing the report. AINPSEF is continuously interacting with the commission along with its allied organisations. We are confident that the commission will submit its report to the central government before the 2027 budget, and employees and pensioners may receive increased salary and pension from April 2027,” Patel said, ET quoted as saying.The commission on Monday began a two-day interaction programme in Lucknow, where it is scheduled to hold 54 meetings with unions, associations and individuals representing departments including railways, defence, health, revenue, communications, CPWD and agriculture.<\/p>\n Under its terms of reference issued in November 2025, the Centre gave the 8th Pay Commission 18 months to submit its recommendations. The deadline expires in May 2027, though the panel can seek an extension if required.Once submitted, the report will be examined by a group of ministers before being placed before the Union Cabinet for approval.Patel said the consultation schedule indicates the commission could finish its work well before the deadline.“With Bhubaneswar and Kolkata interactions scheduled in July, the pay commission will complete its interactions with almost all leading employee and pensioner bodies. After that, six months is a good time to complete and submit its report,” he said.C Srikumar, secretary of the All India Defence Employees Federation (AIDEF), also did not rule out the possibility of the report being submitted by February or March 2027 if the commission does not seek additional time.A senior Federation of National Postal Organisations (FNPO) official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told ET Wealth Online that the report could be submitted before May, “most likely in March”.<\/p>\n Whether the commission can meet those expectations remains uncertain. However, the stakeholder consultation itself was extended till June 26. Therefore, I think it might get submitted only by the last quarter of 2027,” ET quoted him as saying.<\/p>\n Employee representatives point to the commission’s greater use of digital tools as a key difference from previous pay panels.Submission of memorandums, questionnaires and suggestions has largely moved online, while stakeholder interactions are also being scheduled digitally.
