The review forms part of the committee&#8217;s broader responsibility to oversee matters related to personnel administration and public grievances.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"18\"\/>Recruitment of employees has always been an area of concern for government departments, which makes it a significant issue to be considered by legislators and policymakers.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"20\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2 style=\"line-height:1.38;margin-top:18pt;margin-bottom:6pt;\">Functioning of recruitment agencies is reviewed<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"22\"\/>In the process of deliberations, the panel also took a look at the working of important agencies responsible for recruiting people in government service.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"25\"\/>This comprised the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), and the <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/union-public-service-commission\" styleobj=\"[object Object]\" class=\"\" commonstate=\"[object Object]\" frmappuse=\"1\">Union Public Service Commission<\/a> (UPSC).<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"29\"\/>These agencies are responsible for recruiting suitable individuals for various government jobs ranging from civil services to ministerial and technical posts.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"31\"\/>The committee assessed how these agencies are managing recruitment processes and addressing existing vacancies.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"33\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2 style=\"line-height:1.38;margin-top:18pt;margin-bottom:6pt;\">Civil Services Examination and CSAT discussed<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"35\"\/>Apart from vacancies, the committee took up issues related to the Civil Services Examination, one of the country&#8217;s most competitive recruitment processes.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"38\"\/>A significant part of the discussion revolved around the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT), which is conducted as part of the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination.
