<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nNEW DELHI: A 50-year-old mentally challenged man died after being assaulted and stabbed allegedly by some residents near his jhuggi in Shalimar Bagh, northwest Delhi, on the intervening night of June 19 and 20.Police has arrested four people and apprehended a juvenile in the case. The juvenile was found involved in another murder.After getting the PCR call, a police team that went to jhuggi No. T-40 in the Indira Colony ST-Hut area, took the injured man, Bijender, to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital. He died during treatment. Crime and forensic teams have been sent to the spot.The investigation team found that Bijender was mentally challenged. He had a history of aggressive behaviour, a senior police officer said. \u201cHe had threatened and assaulted residents several times in the past,\u201d the officer said.On the day of the attack, Bijender had allegedly tried to attack the sister of a resident. Following the confrontation, the resident and his associates allegedly assaulted Bijender. He was also stabbed during the attack.Bijender\u2019s sister-in-law, Preeti, alleged that the family had a running dispute with the family of the alleged attackers for years.\u201cSince 2011, they have been troubling us. Just three months ago, they stabbed my younger brother-in-law with a knife, and before matters could cool down, this happened. They sell drugs and do not let us live in peace. Every time we approach the police, we end up getting entangled in a cross-case… Once, they fired at another brother-in-law, who narrowly escaped,\u201d she said.Bijender\u2019s mother, Shakuntala<\/a>, echoed the allegations and claimed that several members of her family had been targeted in the past,\u201dMy sons have been attacked by the same family. No action is ever taken against them…. If they keep attacking our family members, how are we supposed to survive?\u201d she asked.Police said they are verifying the family\u2019s claims, including the accusation that Bijender\u2019s atackers had earlier filed counter-FIRs against his family.A case under section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered.<\/div>\n
