<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nNew Delhi: Fourteen people have been arrested in an international cyber fraud call centre bust in Rajapuri area of southwest Delhi\u2019s Dwarka. The accused were allegedly cheating US citizens by pretending to be the tech support staff of a multinational company and security service providers.According to the police, acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted by Delhi Police\u2019s Intelligence Fusion & Strategic Operations (IFSO) Unit. Upon reaching the spot, cops found the 14 people operating from 13 active laptop workstations. A case was registered under sections of the BNS and IT Act.Police found that victims in the US were targeted through fraudulent pop-up alerts displayed on their computer screens. These pop-ups falsely claimed that their system had been compromised and displayed toll-free numbers for assistance, police said.\u201cCalls generated through overseas call vendors were routed to the Dwarka-based call centre through VoIP infrastructure and spoofing technology. The callers then impersonated security experts and induced victims to make payments via gift vouchers or coupons of various companies for fake technical support services,\u201d said Joint CP (IFSO) Rajneesh Gupta.The senior police officer said that payments were then collected gift cards, cryptocurrency<\/a> and cash-pickup mechanisms. Among those arrested are Pawan Gupta (32), the manager and IT Head, Ved Prakash Gaur (30), the IT executive, and Kushagr Bisnoi (26), the security personnel. The remaining 11 accused were callers, police said, adding that an operator and supervisor has also been identified.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
