NEW DELHI: India all-rounder Shreyanka Patil has been ruled out of the remainder of the 2026 ICC Women\u2019s T20 World Cup after suffering a right ankle injury during the Group A match against the Netherlands at Headingley. The injury occurred on the first ball of the sixth over when Shreyanka twisted her ankle while chasing the ball towards mid-on. She immediately grabbed her ankle in pain and was eventually taken off the field on a stretcher as teammates and medical staff rushed to help.The setback has been particularly painful for Shreyanka, who had only recently returned to international cricket after spending a lengthy period on the sidelines with another injury. Taking to social media, the off-spin bowling all-rounder opened up about her disappointment and thanked fans for their support.\u201cWell, not every dream comes true. No injury is easy, but this one has hit the hardest. But in these last couple of days, I have been overwhelmed by the love I have received. I have seen so many messages, so many edits, and reels, and I truly appreciate them all,” wrote Shreyanka on her social media accounts on Saturday.\u201cI know I have enough of you wishing well for me to get through this as well. Not every dream comes true, but I’m not going to stop dreaming! And like I said last year, “heartbroken, but I will fly again.”Shreyanka had featured in India\u2019s win over Pakistan earlier in the tournament and remained an important player because of her ability to bowl at left-handers and deliver effectively in the death overs. Her performances for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Women\u2019s Premier League had also underlined her value.India have brought in leg-spin all-rounder Prema Rawat as her replacement. However, the team management could also turn to left-arm spinner Radha Yadav or make changes to the pace attack ahead of the crucial Group A clash against South Africa at Old Trafford on Sunday.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
