The 22-year-old, who had won all 10 of his professional fights, was found unconscious and bleeding on a road in the early hours of the morning. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, which reportedly happened after a disagreement over a taxi fare.<\/p>\n <\/strong>According to reports from the Mirror, investigators believe Cairney was returning to The Nature Hotel, where he was staying, after a night out in Phuket. Police believe there was a discussion between Cairney and the tuk-tuk driver about payment for the journey.Reports say Cairney did not have cash with him at the time. Investigators believe an arrangement had been made for him to withdraw money from a cash machine to pay the fare. During the journey, the boxer is believed to have fallen head-first from the moving vehicle.Emergency responders arrived at around 4.10am and found him unconscious on the road with severe injuries. He was first taken to Patong Hospital before being transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for specialist treatment. Despite medical efforts, he later died from his injuries.Investigators reviewed CCTV footage from the area. According to reports, the footage showed no signs that Cairney had been assaulted or pushed from the vehicle. Authorities currently believe he fell out of the tuk-tuk and suffered a catastrophic head injury.<\/p>\n The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office confirmed it is supporting Cairney\u2019s family following his death. A spokesperson said: \u201cWe are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Thailand.\u201d Tributes have also poured in from the boxing community.A spokesperson for Boxing Scotland said: \u201cBoxing Scotland are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former international boxer Colin Cairney.\u201cThe 22-year-old represented Scotland many times at prestigious competitions such as the European Junior Championships and the World Youth Championships.\u201dMeanwhile, his boxing club, 1314, described the young fighter as much more than a teammate. \u201cHe is a huge part of Team 1314 and someone who means so much to so many people,\u201d the club said.\u201cHis presence, his character, and the memories we shared with him will stay with us forever.
