<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nKolkata<\/span>: CMSuvendu Adhikari<\/span> on Wednesday said that India\u2019s single emergency number, 112, would soon be integrated with police stations across the state, enabling faster deployment of police vehicles in emergency situation. Speaking at Nabanna during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) and Bengal Police, the CM said the system would function in a manner similar to the Quick Response Team (QRT) vans used during elections. He noted that several other states had already integrated their police forces with the emergency system. The MoU was signed by RRU Pro-Vice Chancellor Kalpesh H Wandra and Director General of Police SN Gupta.The CM said that the Bengal Police previously enjoyed a strong reputation for competence. \u201cSimilarly, the Kolkata Police was once compared to several international police forces. Over time, however, the previous govt failed to properly utilise that strength and capability. That is why we felt it was necessary to increase police manpower, provide modern equipment, and strengthen infrastructure. We are signing this agreement so that West Bengal Police does not have to remain dependent on central forces, and so that we can restore our police force to its former level of excellence and stature.\u201dThe CM said the agreement with RRU would help reduce dependence on central forces and assist in restoring the state\u2019s police force to its former standards.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
