Dave can be seen cheering at nearly every local game, wearing his trademark cape that reads \u201cDave the Rave.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Born with an intellectual disability, Dave grew up in the 1960s, a time when children with special needs were often isolated. However, thanks to the community\u2019s spirit of care, Dave has always been celebrated by those around him.<\/span><\/p>\n Even now, the community members are always looking out for Dave, offering guidance and support no matter where he goes.<\/span><\/p>\n His story is a powerful reminder of what compassion and inclusion can achieve!<\/span><\/p>\n “Dave is, I would say, like a pillar of the community,” said one local resident.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Scout\u2019s daily rounds<\/a> bring joy to the residents at<\/span> Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility<\/span><\/a> in Michigan.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n He was once a stray from the Antrim County Animal Shelter across the street from the nursing home. He would often sneak inside and eventually found his way into the hearts of the residents.<\/span><\/p>\n Now, he\u2019s an adopted member of the nursing home community. He brings comfort to everyone. There\u2019s never a dull day with Scout! He lifts spirits instantly, goes on walks with residents, and even plays ball with them.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cScout makes our nursing home just overall better. It makes people feel like they’re at home. He’s like having a best friend at your side each and every day,\u201d said Jennifer Martinek, a Household Coordinator at Meadow Brook.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
