<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nNEW DELHI: Delhi-NCR will get four new greenfield cities, named ‘Namo Cities’, under the Regional Plan 2041 as part of efforts to promote balanced regional growth and decentralised urban development, following a decision taken on Tuesday.The decision was taken during a meeting of the NCRPB chaired by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal.Addressing reporters after the meeting, Lal said the proposed urban centres would be known as ‘Namo Cities’.“In the meeting, it was decided that four greenfield cities will be developed. These cities will be called ‘Namo Cities’,” Lal told reporters after the meeting.The minister said Rs 5,000 crore would be allocated for the project. States will be invited to submit proposals, and the four cities will be selected through a challenge-based process.The meeting was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, and urban development ministers from Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.Officials said the Regional Plan 2041 envisages rapid urbanisation across the NCR in the coming years. The region’s urban population is projected to reach around 57 per cent by 2031 and nearly 67 per cent by 2041.The draft plan proposes the creation of new residential and economic hubs across Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan as part of a broader strategy to reduce pressure on Delhi and promote sustainable regional development.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
