<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nNew Delhi:<\/span> Municipal Corporation of Delhi<\/a> (MCD<\/a>) is set to make its first dedicated dog shelter at Sector 29, Dwarka, operational by Nov-end, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with GMR Varalakshmi Foundation, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of the GMR Group<\/a>, on Monday.According to MCD officials, the organisation has agreed to fund the entire project, allowing MCD to divert its resources to other civic works. Work on the project is expected to begin next month.The project, with a capacity to accommodate around 1,500 stray dogs, will cost over Rs 3.7 crore. It is primarily aimed at housing aggressive animals that pose a threat. It will be developed on a 2.5-acre plot where an animal shelter is already operational.The project had been under consideration for long time but faced delays due to inter-departmental coordination issues.The proposed facility will have nearly 30% covered area and 70% open space. Dedicated kennels will be created for aggressive dogs, along with provisions for their treatment and care. \u201cFor other dogs brought from institutions and public places, there will be exercise and play areas, along with sheds and semi-covered structures where they can rest,\u201d an official said.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
