Delhi Traffic Police<\/a> is in discussions with PWD to improve movement on GD Birla Marg, a key approach road to the junction.A sharp left turn near the junction on GD Birla Marg forces vehicles to slow down, causing queues that often spill onto the main carriageway. Traffic Police has asked PWD to examine whether a slip road can be built or the turn redesigned to improve flow until larger infrastructure projects are completed.A proposal under consideration involves widening GD Birla Marg near the junction by reducing two traffic islands and creating an arched turning movement that would function as a free left, allowing vehicles to bypass signals and merge more smoothly.The discussions come as congestion at Kalindi Kunj continues to worsen. The intersection now handles an estimated 5-6 lakh vehicles during peak periods, with traffic arriving from Noida, Faridabad<\/a>, Okhla and Sarita Vihar.A major bottleneck occurs where a six- to seven-lane carriageway from Noida narrows to three lanes near the junction. Traffic volumes have also increased because Delhi-Mumbai Expressway currently terminates at Kalindi Kunj. Since the planned link to DND Flyway is still under construction, vehicles from Faridabad, Palwal and other areas along the expressway are routed through the intersection. Authorities expect congestion to ease once the connecting stretch opens.A longer-term solution is also moving forward. NHAI has approved a proposal to build two flyovers at Kalindi Kunj. Cleared during a meeting involving Delhi Traffic Police, Noida Traffic Police and NHAI, the project proposes two loop flyovers that will allow major traffic movements to bypass the intersection, making it signal-free and reducing congestion for commuters travelling between Delhi, Noida and Faridabad.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
