KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kirti Azad<\/a> on Friday reacted strongly to the removal of his security cover, asserting that he would not be intimidated and alleging that BJP-backed elements were targeting opposition leaders and their supporters.Speaking to PTI, Azad said such actions would not deter him from continuing his political struggle and asserted that he was not someone who could be intimidated.“Do you think we’re the kind of people who get scared? They removed the security of others as well,” he said.The former international cricketer claimed that BJP workers had occupied the homes of some leaders while police personnel remained outside. He further alleged that houses were vandalised and damaged in an attempt to create fear.“BJP workers were sitting inside their houses while the police stood outside providing protection. Their homes were vandalized and damaged. If we have entered politics for a struggle, then we will fight that struggle, “Azad alleged.He also claimed that attacks on political opponents could not take place without support from local authorities.Highlighting his background as a former cricketer, Azad said he was not intimidated by such actions.“I am also an international cricketer, and I have my own identity and reputation. Yet their people are attacking us. Would ordinary citizens do such things on their own?” Azad said.The TMC MP further alleged that the incidents were being carried out by “BJP-backed goons” to intimidate political opponents.“This cannot happen unless the police are backing them from behind.
