Over a career spanning nearly four decades, he produced several commercial successes and played a pivotal role in introducing talents who would go on to become household names, including <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/govinda\" styleobj=\"[object Object]\" class=\"\" commonstate=\"[object Object]\" frmappuse=\"1\">Govinda<\/a> and Chunky Panday.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"7\"\/>Following his demise, several industry colleagues reflected on the filmmaker&#8217;s contribution to their careers and the passion that defined his life.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"9\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2>Chunky Panday recalls the meeting that changed his life<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p>For Chunky Panday, Nihalani was more than a producer. The actor credits him with giving him his first major break in Bollywood after an unexpected encounter in Juhu. In a chat with Mid-day, the actor remembered Pahlaj Nihalani and his contributions.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"12\"\/>\u201cWe met under hilarious circumstances at a hotel bathroom in Juhu. <!-- -->Pahlajji helped me out of an awkward situation and asked me to meet him at his office the next day. Then I did two films back-to-back with him, &#8216;Aag Hi Aag&#8217;, and &#8216;Paap Ki Duniya&#8217;. I owe him a big thanks for launching my career.\u201d The actor revealed that Nihalani treated him like family, but was uncompromising when it came to filmmaking. \u201cHe made me do 32 retakes for my first shot; he wanted it perfect.<!-- -->\u201d<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"18\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2>The determination behind &#8216;Aankhen&#8217;<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p>Among their many collaborations, Chunky remembers &#8216;Aankhen&#8217; as one of Nihalani&#8217;s most remarkable achievements. Despite facing scheduling hurdles, the producer pushed ahead and delivered one of the biggest hits of its time. \u201cHe made it under tough circumstances. Nobody had dates available except Govinda, <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/david-dhawan\" styleobj=\"[object Object]\" class=\"\" commonstate=\"[object Object]\" frmappuse=\"1\">David Dhawan<\/a>, <!-- -->Anees Bazmee<!-- -->, and I.\u201d The 1993 comedy went on to become a massive box-office success and remains one of the most celebrated films associated with Nihalani&#8217;s career.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"26\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2>Anees Bazmee on a producer who lived and breathed cinema<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p>Writer-director Anees Bazmee, who worked with Nihalani on several projects, remembered him as someone whose enthusiasm for films never switched off. According to Bazmee, late-night discussions about scripts and scenes were a regular part of their working relationship.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"29\"\/>\u201cOnce, he knocked at my door at 5 am. He wanted to tweak the scene we were to shoot that day. Since everyone was asleep at my house, we sat at a nearby tea stall and I wrote the changes on a tissue paper. <!-- -->He was a dildaar producer!\u201d Bazmee&#8217;s recollection paints a picture of a filmmaker constantly thinking about ways to improve his films, regardless of the hour.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"33\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2><keyword id=\"29598543\" type=\"Denny\" weightage=\"20\" keywordseo=\"Neelam\" source=\"keywords\">Neelam<\/keyword> reflects on his faith in her<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p>Actor Neelam also shared a fond memory from the beginning of her association with Nihalani. She remembered how confident he was about their future collaborations from the very first meeting. \u201cWhen I first met him for a narration, he told me, \u2018Baby, we will do many hit films together.\u2019 <!-- -->I had no idea I\u2019d go on to have so many hits with him.\u201d She described him as a warm-hearted and generous individual who always supported the artists he worked with.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"38\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2>The producer behind Govinda&#8217;s rise<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p>Nihalani played a crucial role in launching Govinda&#8217;s film career. His production &#8216;Ilzaam&#8217; became the actor&#8217;s first release and marked the beginning of one of Bollywood&#8217;s most successful commercial runs.
