The recruitment drive is expected to fill around 12,256 vacancies across various Group B and Group C posts in central government ministries, departments and organisations.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"2\"\/> The online application process started on May 21 and will continue till June 22, 2026, at 11 pm. Candidates who have completed graduation from a recognised university can apply for most posts under the recruitment drive.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"4\"\/>The Tier-I examination is scheduled to be held between August and September 2026 in computer-based mode.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"6\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2><keyword id=\"34084967\" type=\"General\" weightage=\"20\" keywordseo=\"SSC-CGL-2026\" source=\"keywords\">SSC CGL 2026<\/keyword> Tier-I exam pattern &amp; syllabus<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"8\"\/> Tier-I will be conducted as an objective-type computer-based examination. The paper will have 100 questions carrying a total of 200 marks.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"12\"\/> The exam will be divided into four sections \u2014 General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. Each section will contain 25 questions carrying 50 marks.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"14\"\/> Candidates will get one hour to complete the examination. A sectional timer of 15 minutes will be applicable for each section. There will be a negative marking of 0.50 marks for every incorrect answer.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"16\"\/> <\/p>\n<p><h2>General Intelligence and Reasoning syllabus<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"19\"\/> This section tests logical thinking and problem-solving skills. Questions may be asked from verbal and non-verbal reasoning topics including analogies, similarities and differences, coding-decoding, number series, classification, syllogism, statement-conclusion, visual memory, decision-making and relationship concepts.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"23\"\/> Candidates may also encounter questions on Venn diagrams, space visualisation, space orientation, critical thinking, emotional intelligence and social intelligence.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"26\"\/> <\/p>\n<p><h2>General Awareness syllabus<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"29\"\/> The General Awareness section is designed to assess a candidate&#8217;s understanding of the world around them and current events.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"31\"\/> Questions may cover current affairs, history, culture, geography, economics, scientific research and general policy. Candidates should also prepare topics related to India and its neighbouring countries.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"33\"\/> Regular reading of newspapers and keeping track of major national and international developments can help in this section.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"36\"\/> <\/p>\n<p><h2>Quantitative Aptitude syllabus<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"39\"\/> The Quantitative Aptitude section will test numerical ability and mathematical concepts generally studied up to Class 10 level.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"41\"\/> Important topics include percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, profit and loss, interest, time and work, time and distance, partnership, mixtures, algebra, geometry, mensuration, trigonometry and data interpretation.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"43\"\/> Candidates should also prepare topics such as graphs of linear equations, triangles, circles, polygons, cylinders, cones, spheres, histograms, bar diagrams and pie charts.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"46\"\/> <\/p>\n<p><h2>English Comprehension syllabus<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"49\"\/> This section evaluates a candidate&#8217;s understanding of the English language and comprehension skills.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"51\"\/> Questions are expected to test grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, comprehension ability and basic writing skills.
