Subject experts appointed by UPSC will review all objections before preparing the final answer key.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"29\"\/>The commission has clarified that the final answer key will continue to be released after the completion of the entire examination cycle.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"31\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2>UPSC CSE Prelims 2026: Major procedural reform<br \/><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"33\"\/>The early release of the provisional answer key is being seen as one of the biggest procedural reforms introduced by UPSC in recent years.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"35\"\/>Earlier, candidates mostly depended on unofficial answer keys released by coaching institutes to estimate their scores after the examination.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"38\"\/>With the release of the official provisional answer key, candidates will now be able to assess their performance more accurately and begin preparation for the Mains examination without waiting for unofficial solutions.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"40\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2>UPSC CSE Prelims 2026: Exam statistics<br \/><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"42\"\/>According to UPSC, the examination was conducted at 2,072 centres across 83 cities in India.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"44\"\/>Out of 8.19 lakh registered candidates, around 67 per cent appeared for the examination. The number of registrations and attendance was lower compared to last year, when nearly 9.5 lakh candidates had registered and around 5.8 lakh appeared for the exam.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"47\"\/>Delhi recorded the highest number of candidates with 70,885 candidates appearing across 144 centres.
