From chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan defending the Left\u2019s governance record to Congress leaders attempting a comeback and BJP figures trying to convert incremental gains into victories, the results from a handful of key seats could offer the clearest indication of Kerala\u2019s evolving political landscape.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"7\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">Pinarayi Vijayan &#8211; Dharmadam<\/span><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"9\"\/><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"10\"\/>Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan remains the LDF\u2019s central figure as he seeks another victory from Dharmadam in Kannur district. The constituency is considered a CPM stronghold, and Vijayan\u2019s performance will be closely watched as a measure of the Left\u2019s hold over north Kerala after two consecutive terms in power.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"12\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">VD Satheesan &#8211; Paravur<\/span><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"14\"\/><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"15\"\/>Leader of opposition VD Satheesan is leading the Congress-led UDF campaign from Paravur in Ernakulam district. Seen as the opposition\u2019s principal strategist in this election, Satheesan has focused his campaign on anti-incumbency, corruption allegations and governance issues. His margin in Paravur could reflect the UDF\u2019s overall performance in central Kerala.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"19\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">KK Shailaja &#8211; Mattannur<\/span><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"21\"\/><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"22\"\/>Former health minister KK Shailaja remains one of the CPM\u2019s most popular leaders and is contesting from Mattannur in Kannur district. Widely recognised for her handling of the Nipah outbreak and Covid-19 pandemic, Shailaja continues to be a major face of the Left\u2019s welfare and public health narrative.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"25\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">K Surendran &#8211; Manjeshwaram<\/span><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"27\"\/><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"28\"\/>BJP state president K Surendran is once again contesting from Manjeshwaram in Kasargod district, a constituency where the party has repeatedly come close to victory. The seat remains politically significant for the BJP because of its proximity to coastal Karnataka and the party\u2019s efforts to consolidate support in north Kerala.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"30\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">Sobha Surendran &#8211; Palakkad<\/span><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"32\"\/><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"33\"\/>Senior BJP leader Sobha Surendran is contesting from Palakkad, one of the most closely watched constituencies in the election. <!-- -->The BJP sees Palakkad as a realistic opportunity for an Assembly breakthrough because of its urban-rural mix, growing municipal presence and steady rise in vote share over recent years.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"37\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">Ramesh Pisharody &#8211; Palakkad<\/span><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"39\"\/><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"40\"\/>Actor and television personality Ramesh Pisharody is the Congress-led UDF candidate in Palakkad. His candidature comes at a time when the constituency has evolved into a triangular contest involving the BJP, Congress and the Left, making it one of the most unpredictable seats in Kerala.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"43\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">MB Rajesh &#8211; Thrithala<\/span><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"45\"\/><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"46\"\/>State minister MB Rajesh is defending Thrithala for the CPM in a constituency that has traditionally witnessed close contests between the LDF and UDF. His performance will be closely watched in Palakkad district, where the BJP is also attempting to expand its influence.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"48\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">K K Rema &#8211; Vadakara<\/span><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"50\"\/><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"51\"\/>Revolutionary Marxist Party leader KK Rema, backed by the UDF, remains one of Kerala\u2019s most closely watched opposition figures.
