<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nNew Delhi:<\/span> Delhi govt is planning to bring a borewell policy in the city to ease water shortage problems, chief minister Rekha Gupta said on Friday.Gupta took part in the \u2018Catch the Rain\u2019 event organised by Delhi Jal Board<\/a> (DJB) as part of the rainwater harvesting programme.\u201cDelhi govt is considering bringing in a borewell policy. But only those houses and residential colonies which have a proper functioning water harvesting system will be eligible to get an authorised borewell,\u201d Gupta said.The chief minister also unveiled a dedicated mascot for the \u2018Catch the Rain\u2019 initiative of DJB.\u201cSteps like subsidies up to Rs 50,000 by the govt, discounts of 10 to 15% on water bills, and free technical assistance are accelerating this direction. Now the goal is to make every home, every rooftop, and every institution an active part of this effort,\u201d Gupta said in a post on X.According to water minister Parvesh Verma, who also participated in the event, the initiative is part of rainwater harvesting systems.\u201cRainwater harvesting in govt establishments must be implemented in a serious and time-bound manner,\u201d Verma said.\u201cTime has come for every household and residential society to adopt rainwater harvesting. This is a collective responsibility shared by all. If we manage to save even a single litre of water each day, Delhi\u2019s future can be secured. Failure to comply will invite strict action, an initial 10% cut will be imposed, and if lapses continue, the connection will be disconnected,\u201d he added.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
