<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\nNew Delhi: Delhi govt has constituted a five-member committee to review the functioning of self-financing colleges affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, following repeated complaints over admission delays and alleged irregularities.In an order issued on April 27, Directorate of Higher Education said the committee would examine the admission and affiliation framework for these colleges and recommend changes to make the system more transparent, streamlined and student-friendly.The panel has been asked to review the recommendations of Narayanswami Committee in light of the 2016 policy guidelines and suggest reforms in affiliation, admissions and related regulatory processes.The exercise, the order notes, is aimed at aligning the system with National Education Policy 2020 and the evolving needs of higher education.Retired IAS officer UR Kapoor will chair the committee. Its members include prof Payal Mago, director of Delhi University\u2019s School of Open Learning; Manmeet Singh Walia, joint secretary (law, justice and legislative affairs), Delhi govt; and Brig Pradeep Kumar Upmanyu (retd), former joint registrar. The director of training and technical education\/higher education will serve as the convener.The move follows scrutiny of the university\u2019s admission processes by Delhi govt’s admission regulatory committee last year, when at least 90 complaints were taken up. These included allegations of missing merit lists, donation demands, delays in fee refunds and complaints related to reservation and seat conversion.In one such case, the committee had pulled up the university over delays in fee refunds, noting that nearly Rs 50 crore was pending. The university later informed the panel that refunds had been processed for around 7,500 students.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
